August 27th, 2014 is a day Southern California and myself will talk about for decades.

All eyes, cell phones, cameras, and drones were on Marie. 

 

"Hurricane Marie; The swell of the cenutury. A pretty name, an ever prettier presence. That’s our babe Marie. She turned up the waters off of Mexico and sent a hurling swell at the California coast. You don’t get the reputation for being the strongest Pacific hurricane since 2010 for nothing. She’s got sunshine in her eye and strength in her nature. We saw a bit of both in Newport Beach that day."
